- VidBee is a general-purpose desktop GUI for the open-source yt-dlp project.
- We do not encourage, endorse, or induce unlawful use. Downloading copyrighted content without rights is prohibited.
- DRM-protected content is not supported, and we will not attempt to obtain or bypass decryption keys.
- You are responsible for your use and agree to indemnify VidBee for third-party claims arising from your actions.
Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using the VidBee website, desktop application, or related services, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use VidBee.
These terms apply to the software, updates, documentation, and any related services we provide.
Definitions and scope of services
"VidBee," "we," or "us" refers to the VidBee project and its maintainers. "You" refers to the individual or entity using VidBee.
"Services" include the VidBee website, the VidBee desktop application, and related services.
"Related services" are limited to update checks, release downloads, documentation, supported-sites data, and community support channels (for example GitHub Issues and Discord).
About VidBee and yt-dlp
VidBee is a desktop graphical interface that helps you operate the open-source yt-dlp downloader. VidBee is a general-purpose tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any content platform.
We do not host, upload, or distribute third-party content. Content remains on the platforms you choose to access.
Privacy Policy and data processing
Our Privacy Policy explains what data is handled on the website and in the app, why we handle it, and your choices. It is part of these Terms.
VidBee runs locally. Download history, RSS subscriptions, and media libraries stay on your device unless you choose to share them. Optional analytics can be disabled in Settings.
Lawful use and copyright compliance
You must use VidBee in compliance with applicable laws and the terms of service of the platforms you access.
VidBee does not encourage, endorse, or induce unlawful behavior. You are prohibited from using VidBee to download or access content that violates copyright law or other intellectual property rights.
- Only download content that is publicly accessible and that you have the right to use.
- Respect copyright, licensing restrictions, and platform rules.
- Ensure you have permission for private or restricted content before accessing it.
Prohibited conduct
The following actions are prohibited and constitute a material breach of these Terms:
- Using VidBee to download, distribute, or facilitate access to content that infringes copyright or other rights.
- Bypassing, disabling, or interfering with security-related features, access controls, or copy-protection mechanisms, including features that limit copying or downloading.
- Attempting to reverse engineer, disrupt, or compromise the integrity of VidBee, its updates, or related services.
- Using VidBee to violate laws, regulations, or third-party terms of service.
DRM-protected content
VidBee does not support downloading DRM-protected content. We do not encourage, endorse, or induce DRM circumvention in any form.
DRM typically encrypts media so it can only be decrypted by authorized apps and devices. Decryption keys are provided through provider-controlled key or license servers as part of a secure key exchange or license acquisition process, which means the content is unusable without those keys.
Because VidBee does not have access to provider key systems and will not attempt to obtain or bypass decryption keys, DRM-protected content is not supported.
Third-party services and content
VidBee interacts with third-party websites and services you choose to access. Those platforms control their own content, policies, and availability.
We are not responsible for third-party content, policies, or any disputes between you and a third party. You are solely responsible for your use of third-party services.
Third-party components and notices
VidBee uses open-source components such as yt-dlp and FFmpeg, along with other libraries used to build the app and website. Each component is licensed by its respective authors.
Notices and license texts are provided in the source repository and within distribution packages where applicable. You agree to comply with those third-party license terms.
Licenses and intellectual property
VidBee is open-source software. The code is made available under the license published in the VidBee repository. You must comply with that license when using, modifying, or distributing the software.
The VidBee name, logo, and branding are protected and may not be used without permission.
Disclaimer of warranties
VidBee is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that VidBee will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with every platform.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VidBee and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits arising from your use of VidBee.
Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with VidBee is to stop using it.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless VidBee, its maintainers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of VidBee, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.
Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the VidBee project is operated, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of VidBee will be resolved in the courts located in that jurisdiction, unless mandatory local law provides otherwise.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to VidBee services or updates if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date when changes are made.
